It’s how we got started. An early client of ours was a caterer, we had to solve, “How to get catering leads?”
Catering leads were the first issue we had to tackle in our marketing consultancy.
To date, corporate catering niches have proved the most successful online lead generation territory for Selmore.
Our client’s questions over the years generally have been…

- 0.2 2. “How can I market my catering business?”
- 0.3 3. “I want to build a catering business, can you help?”
- 0.4 4. “What’s the best way of getting more catering orders?”
- 0.5 5. “Please help me increase my catering sales…”
- 0.6 6. “Will your lead generation campaigns help me market a catering business?”

Looking for an example of the sort of catering leads our campaigns generate?
Here’s an example of the type of corporate catering enquiry which our client’s have enjoyed:
Example corporate catering leads
A typical corporate catering lead produced by Selmore…
One of our early clients, was looking to diversify his income and thought to add weekend private and corporate catering as an additional string to his bow.
His idea was to purchase some event catering equipment and use his van to run outdoor catering at events.
The niche was outdoor hog roasting…
…& market territory was London and Home Counties.
At the point which we began holding talks with our catering client, our experience in using search engine marketing to generate catering leads was well practiced.
We showed our new client an existing corporate catering lead generation website which we had produced for another client.
He was sold at first glance.
The quickest and ‘least resistance’ sales process ever.
Our mission: to build the ultimate lead generation website for generating catering leads…
Seeing we had once before produced a client website in a neighbouring niche for generating regional catering leads, with great success – we were very confident.
However, in between then and our engaging on this new project, we learned an important lesson.
Avoid thin duplicate website content, or risk your entire campaign fall flat on it’s face.
Google had just released it’s Panda software update and our clients which previously had occupied multiple page one rankings for leading keywords instantly disappeared online.
Their geographic landing pages which served up the areas covered, bringing in the high quality corporate catering leads included much copy repetition i.e. area descriptions etc. which Google began penalising.
Having examined the issue, we decided on the way to resolve the problem.
We would have to heavily outweigh such low value (…to the customer) sales pages with high value well presented, useful content within the website.
We began an intensive bout of content strategising and development to swing the balance in our client’s favour.
In only a matter of days was our problem solved.
The search rankings bounced back just as strong as ever, plus all the new content also pulled in interest…the phone began ringing again.
Our client was delighted and we learned a very important online marketing lesson.
Build campaigns for users first and search engines second.
Case study for generating both private and corporate catering leads
Brand design for a website to generate catering leads
We developed the brand from scratch incorporating the famed, ‘Essex Saddleback’ pig which is the preferred hog for this hog roast catering enterprise.
Call to action for website generating catering leads
The aesthetic chosen to complement the featured brand focus of the ‘Essex Saddleback’ is a butcher’s chalkboard.
This we thought might resonate with the target market who might appreciate the message of authenticity.
WordPress content management system to build a website for generating catering leads
We began building a lead generation website for this catering company using WordPress content management system.
We anticipated producing large amounts of content for this campaign and therefore we needed a system robust and capable enough to assist us.
WordPress content management system is the ideal tool for this, with built in SEO advantages for this project.
Conversation rate optimisation for a website generating catering leads
We set up conversion rate optimised pages with sales copy within the page body informing customers of the details of service and quality of product.
Each page was wired with a contact form, primed for the job of producing qualified catering leads.
The contact forms were hooked up to forward enquiry details to the client’s email inbox.
Information architecture for a website generating catering leads
The content within lead generation website for our corporate catering client was categorised using the silo method, as advocated by Bruce Clay.
In this way we attempted to present unto Google…and alternative search engines…a well organised and thematically arrayed website, which we hoped would be both user friendly and search friendly.
Photography for a website generating catering leads
A combination of stock photos and real event photography were used to portray the end results of what a typical corporate catering customer might expect from booking with our client.
The end results were a constant flow of high quality private and corporate catering leads.
Don’t believe us…take a look at the results…
